Abstract:
Many companies struggle to understand the drivers behind their inventory levels, in particular excess inventory that adds costs to operations.
Such inventory may indicate procurement or supply chain problems that need to be addressed by the organization.
Understanding these drivers can enable new strategies such as faster and more reliable delivery from suppliers, shorter cycle time and, better positioning of inventory in the supply chain, to name a few examples. Through an end to end inventory optimization modeling process with OPS Rules, Pepsico was able to quantify inventory opportunities, the drivers of these opportunities and create a common platform for management to try out new strategies that improve supply chain performance.
A case study discussing implementation of these concepts at PepsiCo will be included in the discussion.
Featuring David Simchi-Levi, a Professor of Engineering Systems at MIT and Chairman of OPS Rules, Laszlo Molnar, Sr. Director, Supply Chain at PepsiCo Worldwide Flavours and SCDigest Editor Dan Gilmore.
